Free Credit Report
One may obtain a free individual credit report
from any of the three reporting credit agencies,
which are Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. This is
acceptable only for the purpose of looking at the
information provided by creditors to each
credit-reporting agency. Log onto
www.annualcreditreport.com.
This method of obtaining a free credit report is
fine. However, this does not assist you if you are
planning to purchase a car or property.
A better approach would be to log onto
www.freecreditreport.com. This site provides you
with a free credit report with the important FICO
scores from the three reporting agencies for a $30
fee.
If, however, you were looking to refinance or
purchase property in the near future, the ideal
method would be the following:
You should arrange a meeting with us where we can
immediately obtain all 3-credit reports with your
FICO scores. From this report we would discuss, in
detail, the status of your credit rating and would
include a credit analysis report from each credit
bureau. This will determine what measures are
necessary to improve your credit rating and we can
tell you how much your potential improvement will
be.
An additional benefit we can provide to improve your
score is addressing any disputes arising from the
discovery of erroneous information on your credit
report. For example, one such disputable item which
appears from time-to-time deals with old accounts
that should have been removed but still show on the
report and continue to have a negative impact on the
credit score. Anything we can do to improve you
score will help your overall creditworthiness. This
improved credit simply means a substantial
difference one pays for a loan with a poor credit
score (and consequently, a higher interest rate)
than for a loan with an improved credit score.
